Join the “Brave”: Why Youth Should Try Bagpipes

Finding a hobby that is both physically challenging and artistically rewarding can be tough for kids these days, but the North Shore Highlanders have the perfect solution. Learning the pipes or drums is a fantastic way for youth in Port Dover to build discipline, improve their memory, and join a supportive social group. Plus, let’s be honest: it’s way cooler than playing the recorder in music class.

We offer a structured environment where young people can learn at their own pace. From mastering the practice chanter to eventually blowing up their first set of pipes, the journey is full of “milestone” moments that build real confidence. We’re passionate about passing this tradition down to the next generation of Norfolk County residents, ensuring that the sound of the pipes will be heard in our town for another hundred years.

If your son or daughter is looking for something unique to do after school, bring them by one of our practices! They’ll get to meet other local kids, learn from experienced mentors, and eventually get the chance to wear the kilt and perform for their neighbors. It’s an adventure that starts right here in Port Dover and can take them to competitions and festivals all over the world.
