There is something about a pipe band that turns a simple walk down the street into a “grand event.” For the North Shore Highlanders, marching is our way of connecting with the people of Port Dover. Whether it’s a parade for Canada Day or a fundraiser for a local charity, the presence of the band adds a sense of ceremony and excitement that you just can’t get from a stereo.
But it’s not just about the big events. We march to support local businesses, celebrate our town’s milestones, and bring people together. In a world that is increasingly digital, seeing a group of 30+ musicians marching in unison is a powerful reminder of what humans can achieve when they work together. We love seeing the smiling faces on the sidewalks of Port Dover—it’s what keeps us practicing!
Our band is made up of your neighbors—teachers, retirees, students, and workers from all over Norfolk County. When we march, we’re representing our families and our friends. It’s a privilege to be the “soundtrack” for our town’s most important moments, and we take that responsibility seriously every time we step off the curb.
