You might think the pipes belong strictly to the Highlands or Port Dover, Ontario, but they’ve actually been to orbit! Canadian astronaut Kjell Lindgren played a set of “pipes” (specifically a chanter) on the International Space Station to honor a friend. It turns out the “Big Pipe” is truly universal.
While the North Shore Highlanders haven’t been booked for a moon gig yet, we like to think our music has a similarly “out of this world” impact on Norfolk County. There’s something about the frequency of the pipes that seems to resonate no matter where you are—from a space station to the Port Dover beach.
We’re happy to keep our feet on the ground for now. As long as there’s a crowd in Port Dover to play for, we don’t need to go to zero-gravity to feel like we’re flying.
