Bruce Hitchings has stepped down as Chair of the Solo Piping Judges Association (SPJA), effective immediately, after serving in the role since 2023. A highly respected figure in the piping world, Hitchings leaves behind a legacy of leadership, military service, and contributions to judging standards in solo piping. The SPJA will appoint an interim chair until its annual general meeting in November, while continuing its work to improve judging consistency, competition standards, and conflict-of-interest policies within the solo piping community.
